The Community
We are the Huni Kuin people of Boa Vista Village, known to our elders as Mae Beru Paē.
We live on the banks of the Jordão River, four hours by boat from the nearest town, Jordão, in the state of Acre, Brazil. We are approximately 200 souls in a village where time flows differently. We remain among the few indigenous peoples who have kept their culture alive after colonization. We are the guardians of our language, our sacred songs, our traditional body paintings, our knowledge of medicinal and master plants, our weaving, and the art of living in harmony with the Amazon rainforest. From elders to youth, our way of life is defined by one thing: joy and connection with nature. These are the essence of our existence.

We believe the world heals person by person, community by community. Eskawata Kayawai, the spirit of transformation, reminds us that when you heal yourself, you heal those around you. And that the forest, the waters, the earth and its people are one. So we have opened our doors and our hearts to the world. A healed soul will always bring more light in the world. And this is the gift we offer and receive at the same time.
